

David Harold Thornton of Black Mountain, NC, and formerly of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away on February 13, 2016, after many years of declining health. He was born April 1, 1967, in Forsyth County, NC, to Joseph Pope Thornton and Linda Thacker Thornton, both of whom precede him in death. David graduated from East Forsyth High School and attended UNC Charlotte. He is survived by numerous family members and countless friends who will miss him greatly.
Services for David will be held on Sunday, February 21st, at Old Town Baptist Church, where he was a member. Visitation will be at 1pm in the sanctuary, and the service will begin at 2pm, with The Rev. Rick Speas presiding. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of The Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Treatment Center for the extraordinary care he received there, as well as to his devoted friend, Nicole Marcello. Memorial contributions may be made to The Black Mountain Center Foundation (BMC Foundation), 932 Old US 70 Highway, Black Mountain, NC 28711, a non-profit organization committed to improving the lives of persons who have Alzheimer’s disease or developmental disabilities.
