Dean Clair Hill, a man defined by his meticulous nature, his passion for cars and his deep-rooted love for his family, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on July 29, 1944, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Dean’s life was a journey through many vibrant communities. From the neighborhoods of Jacksonville and Tallahassee, FL, to Lawrenceville, GA, Downingtown, PA, and Lewisville, NC, Dean finally found home in Walkertown, NC. In every city where he lived, he was known for leaving behind a trail of fond memories and a perfectly manicured lawn.
A Legacy of Hard Work and Precision
Dean spent much of his professional life at R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company in Winston-Salem. A man who understood the value of discipline and effort, Dean’s work ethic extended far beyond the office. To Dean, a lawn was a reflection of pride; he took immense joy in the upkeep of his home, ensuring every corner of his yard was pristine.
Outside of his home maintenance, Dean was a true enthusiast of the automotive world. He had a deep appreciation for the power and design of a well-built engine and the shine of a classic car, a hobby that perfectly balanced his love for mechanical detail and aesthetic beauty.
A Devoted Family Man
While he was proud of his work and his hobbies, Dean’s greatest accomplishment was the family he built. He was a steady and loving presence, providing a lifetime of support and guidance. He is survived by:
His loving wife: Suzanne Hill, his partner and confidante. His children: Deana, Shannon, and Brett, who were his pride and joy. His faithful dog: Skippy, his constant companion and shadow.
Dean will be remembered as a man of quiet strength, a dedicated "car guy," and a neighbor who set the standard for the perfect yard. His kindness and his passion for the simple joys of life will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
“Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal” - Dean Hill
