

Mrs. Delsie M. Gilley of Brookridge Retirement Community, and wife of the late William H. Gilley, went to rest on Thursday, September 15, 2011, at the age of 94. Mrs. Gilley was born March 11, 1917 in Westfield, NC to Martha and Charles Wainfield Brinkley. She was the youngest of five children. She is predeceased by her son, James R. Gilley of Dallas, Texas.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Linda Gilley Cox of Winston-Salem, NC; six grandchildren, Mike Gilley and wife Donna of Charlotte, NC, Elizabeth Dale Gilley of Winston-Salem, NC, Mrs. Nita Gilley Dry and husband Todd of Singer Island, FL, Mrs. Michelle Larking and husband Ken of Seven Lakes, NC, Ms. Elizabeth Anne Cox of Winston-Salem, Trent W. Cox of Chapel Hill, NC; nine great grandchildren, Ms. Caroline Gilley of Singer Island, FL, Brandon Dry and Chandler Dry of Singer Island, FL, Gray Gilley and Mackenzie Gilley of Charlotte, NC, Alexander Larking and Emily Larking of Yadkinville, NC, Kaylen Ann Cox and Makenna Cox of Wake Forest, NC,; a great, great grandchild, Sterling Lee of Singer Island, Fl; daughter-in-law, Sylvia Gilley of Winston-Salem, NC; a special niece, Mary Frances Tucker; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Gilley graduated from Pineridge Elementary School and Longhill High School of Pilot Mountain.
Mrs. Gilley, until her health deteriorated, was a long standing, active member of Northwest Baptist Church, the Christian Women’s Club, the Town and Country Civic Club, and the WMU of Northwest Baptist Church.
Mrs. Gilley was a very giving and loving person, a dedicated wife, precious mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, as well as a dear friend to all. She was always a giver, not a taker. She was dearly loved and admired by her family and had many Christian friends. Mrs. Gilley will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all.
The funeral service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m., Monday, September 19, 2011, at Vogler and Sons Reynolda Road Chapel by the Rev. Brandon Hudson of Northwest Baptist Church and Pastor Gene Brinkley of The People’s Church. The family will receive friends from 2:30-3:30 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park.
