OBITUARY

Dennis Stuart Stone

November 7, 1946 – January 6, 2025
Obituary of Dennis Stuart Stone
IN THE CARE OF

Frank Vogler & Sons

Dennis Stuart Stone passed away on January 6, 2024 in Winston Salem, North Carolina.

Denny was born in Stark County, Ohio on November 7, 1946 to Douglas and Janet Stone. He later attended Bowling Green State University where he studied music and, most importantly, met his wife, Nancy.

He spent some time teaching after college and then was drafted into the United States Army. Due to his musical background, Denny was assigned as an Army musician. After graduating from the Warrant Officer school, he became a Bandmaster and commanded several Army band units. Denny and his family moved frequently during his service. He was stationed all over the United States and twice in Germany. Denny and Nancy were most fond of their times in Germany and traveled extensively throughout Europe. He closed out his career teaching new soldiers, serving his country for over 20 years.

Following his retirement from the military, Denny was active in Rotary. After moving to Clemmons to be nearer to family, he and Nancy began attending Clemmons United Methodist Church where they were active in the choir.

In his spare time, Denny loved photography, a passion he had throughout his life. He was also an avid golfer, but Denny loved traveling with his wife most of all.

He leaves behind Nancy, his loving wife of over 50 years, his children, Amy and Chris, and grandchildren, Cheyenne and Leah. He loved spending time with his brother’s family, Bob, wife, Suzanne, and their children, Jenny, Meri, and Matt. He is also missed by his dear cousin, Kathy, and countless good friends.

Memorial contributions can be made in Denny’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation.
