Dolores Leonella (Urba) Barauskas was a devoted Mother and Grandmother to her family. Born in Chicago, IL, she graduated from St. Casimir Academy in Chicago, IL, and eventually settled with her family in the Winston-Salem area 40 years ago. Dolores was an executive legal secretary for many years, and retired from Womble, Carlyle and Associates in Winston-Salem, NC.
She was also a gifted and accomplished artist and teacher of watercolor and acrylic paintings. As an active member of the Muddy River Art Association in Clemmons, NC, her paintings were regularly shown in exhibits at New Hope Presbyterian Church and Salemtowne Retirement Community, as well in several banks and medical offices. She was a regular contributor of beautifully decorated painted furniture and holiday gifts to the annual Holy Family Catholic Church Bazaar, and was very active in the Young at Heart group and the Mahjong group. Her passions were her family and her community.
Preceded in death by her husband, Adolph Julian Barauskas, they were married for fifty-three years. She had four children: Adrienne Logan (wife of Charles Logan) of Las Vegas, Nevada, Carl Barauskas of Winston-Salem, NC, Rita Long (wife of Kenneth Long) also of Winston-Salem, NC, and Andrew Barauskas (husband of Cheri Barauskas) of Lynchburg, VA.
Dolores doted on her grandchildren, Jillian Dennis of Winston-Salem, NC, Nicholas Long of Winston-Salem, NC, and Eva Barauskas of Lynchburg, VA. They were her pride and joy. Dolores was always proud and supportive of her family's many accomplishments. She leaves behind many relatives and long-time friends. Our family wishes to thank Trellis Supportive Care group and her devoted caregivers for their kindness and efforts during her illness.
The funeral mass will be held on Friday, December 14th at 11am at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4820 Kinnamon Rd.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations can be made to the The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in her name.
