Dortha (Dot) Elliott Chappell, 100, was born November 17, 1924, in Wilkes County to Robert A. Elliott and Jettie Garrison Elliott. Dot passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on June 04, 2025, at Kate B Reynolds Hospice Home.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William (Bill) W. Chappell; daughter, Elizabeth Chappell Gordon; two brothers, Eugene and Buster Elliott; and sister, Gertrude E. Miller.
She is survived by her son F. Eugene (Gene) Chappell and wife Lori; grandchildren Josh Chappell (Suzanne), Will Chappell (Angie), Matt Womble (Shanda), Mandy Womble (Casey Snyder), Sarah Mears (Bryan), Hannah Smith (Justin), and Rebekah Ramlow (Chris); sister Sonja Crews (Garland deceased); brother Jackie Elliott (Peggy); great grandchildren, Ava and Ella Sanders (parents Chase and Sarah), August and Ari Mears, Tyler and Penelope Smith, Ruth & Elliott Ramlow, Alexander Snyder, Annalise Chappell and Nadja Saraos with great great grandchildren Kaeja, Taelynn, and Raelee, as well as many special nieces and nephews.
Dot was an active and devoted member of Clemmons First Baptist Church for over 60 years. Dot and Bill spent many years of their lives traveling the country and the world, visiting all 50 states and many countries, including China, Japan, and Mexico, to name a few. Dot was an admirable businesswoman, serving as a role model to the community; but, above all else, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and sharing her knowledge and love of fiber arts, gardening, reading, and NASCAR.
A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at Frank Vogler and Sons, Clemmons. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1 pm. Interment will follow the service at Westlawn Garden of Memory.
