Flossie Irene Slater

Lewisville-Flossie Irene Slater, 87, died December 29, 2012. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at 11 AM at Union United Methodist Church in Lewisville. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday, January 1 at Frank Vogler & Sons Clemmons Chapel.

Ms. Slater was born on her family farm in Yadkin County and never left. She loved her home but even more she loved her God. She was a long time member of Union United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. Although she never had children of her own she considered all the children she mentored over the years as hers. She played clarinet in the Hope Moravian Church Band. For several years she worked as a clerk at Kmart.

She is survived by her brother Roy (Sue) Slater of Stanleyville; nephews, Jimmy (Martha) Slater of Pfafftown and Evan (Sandra) Slater, Jr., of Lewisville; great nieces, Amber Slater, Meagan Slater and Karie Thompson; great-great niece, Shawna; and great-great nephews, Ty and Ian. She is preceded in death by her sister, Grace and her brother, Evan.
