

She was born September 2, 1916 in Yadkin County, the daughter of Early and Addie Crews Lineberry. She was a former member of Marshall Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the Women’s Circle. She presently is a member of Temple Baptist Church, Lewisville. She was retired from the Singer, Co., a master seamstress and formerly owned Goldie’s Learn to Sew. She made many quilts for display at Forsyth Medical Center and for charity. “Grandma” as she was called by many, was also a former caregiver with Bayada Nursing and had judged fashion shows at Salem College. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, planning events and taking care of her family. She was a magnet that drew people close to her, she loved everyone she met and it was a true honor and privilege to have known her. It was said that she was “the thread that held her family together”. Devoted to her family she is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cletus Starling; a sister, Evelean Starling and four brothers, Monroe, Raymond, Fred and Delmer Ray Lineberry.
Survivors include a daughter, Geraldine “Gerri” Marsh of Rural Hall; a son, Ron Starling and wife, Karen of Winston-Salem; a sister-in-law, Elsie Lineberry of East Bend; three grandchildren, Susan Bartley and husband, Ronnie Mabe of Rural Hall, Lisa Haffner and husband, Michael of Rural Hall and Chris Starling and wife, Rachel of Tobaccoville and five great-grandchildren, Tiffany, Kenadi, Mikayla, Silas and Jonah.
A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, April 22nd at Friendship Baptist Church by the Rev. John Harman where the body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Monday, April 21st at Frank Vogler and Sons, Reynolda Chapel.
