

Helen was born May 13, 1922 in Winston-Salem to C.C. and Jessie Whicker Sapp. She graduated from Gray High School in 1939 and married John William Yandell, February 1943. Five children were born of this union.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her son, John Stephen Yandell and all her siblings, Roger Sapp of Atlanta, GA.; Harry Sapp of Wallburg, NC and Donna Lyons of Winston-Salem.
Left to cherish her memories are four children: Jane Mueller of Lady Island, SC; Beverly Yandell (Rob Mueller) of Cumming, GA.; Barbara Bunn (Bob) of Charlotte and David Yandell of Charlotte. Daughter-in-law, Anne Bishop, grandsons Brant S. Yandell, John W. Yandell II, Kyle Mueller and Jason Yandell and a multitude of nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
Having lived in Winston-Salem most of her life, she was a member of Ardmore United Methodist Church for over 60 years. One of Helen's passions was playing bridge. She was a charter member of the Chatterbox Bridge Club which started in 1944. These women were near and dear to her heart as well as her neighbors on Pinebluff Road where all her children were raised.
The family wishes to thank everyone for the thoughtful visits, cards and calls during her illness. They also wish to thank "special" caregivers at Lawyers Glen.
Funeral services will be held at Vogler’s Funeral Home on Reynolda Road in Winston-Salem, Monday, January 24, 2011 at 12:00 a.m. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. Interment will be held at 4:00 p.m. in the mausoleum at Sharon Memorial Gardens in Charlotte, NC.
