Howard Cadle Johnson

April 24, 1938 – September 8, 2021
Obituary of Howard Cadle Johnson
IN THE CARE OF

Frank Vogler & Sons

The Lord has welcomed Howard Cadle Johnson home with open arms. His body and mind were so weary. He has now been restored and blessed with eternal life.

“Love you bunches and will miss you so very much, my Howie! You were my soulmate!” – Love, Carol

Howard Cadle was born in Shoal, Kentucky to Virgie Bowling and Kelly Johnson with the help of a frontier nurse in the mountains of eastern Kentucky.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Lois Jean, Bert, Kelly, and Amy Lou. He is survived by his loving, caring wife of forty-two years, Carol Fouts-Johnson; son. Terry (Kellie) Johnson; sister, Chloe (Bill) Becker; sister-in-laws, Esther Johnson and Linda Johnson; brother-in-law, Bill Fiedler; and many family members including his furry companions, Bella Marie, Max, and Abby Louise.

Howard was loved by many and will be missed so very much. His smile and laughter were contagious. He dearly loved traveling, hiking, boating, camping, and of course music. He loved life! Music and singing were a central part of his life. He taught himself to play guitar at nine years old. For many years, Howard had a music group called Howard Johnson & Freetime. He also belonged to Indiana Friends of Bluegrass and Hoosier Hills Traditional Music. He, Carol, and friends played music in the Pioneer Building at the Indiana State Fair as well as nursing homes and special events for many years.

Howard was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in High Point, North Carolina and Saints Francis & Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church in Greenwood, Indiana.

A celebration of Howard’s life will be held at a later time in both North Carolina and Indiana.

“Please come celebrate Howard’s life with me.” –Carol

The family would like to offer special thanks to Trellis Supportive Care, especially Cynthia, and the Trinity Elms staff in the Harper and Tanglewood units for their kindness and compassion.

Memorial Contributions can be made to Trellis Supportive Care or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
