Irene S Zimmerman

Irene Smith Zimmerman passed away on June 26, 2018. She was the wife of the late M.L. (Joe) Zimmerman. She was born May 10, 1920 in Elkin, North Carolina to Betty P and James H. Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a beloved Son Mike Zimmerman, a brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Magdalene Smith of Jonesville.

Irene was a graduate of Reynolds High School. She was of Methodist Faith. In her early years of marriage, She, Joe and two sons, Buddy and Mike operated Polo Grill for a number of years. Late in life Irene became an employee of Thalheimers, Hechts and Estee Lauder Cosmetics. She retired October 1996 after 30 years of service.

Surviving is her very devoted Son, Buddy, a granddaughter, Rena and Christopher Sprinkle, grandson, Joseph Zimmerman and great granddaughter, Rena Leigh Zimmerman.

Irene also had three nieces and two nephews that were very special to her. Jenny Case (Special Friend Bobby Brooks), Kathy and Dickie Billings, (late)Mary and Nicky Wagoner, (late) Jim and Judy Smith and (late)Marty Smith. All are from Elkin and Jonesville.

She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews , great and great great nieces and nephews to cherish in her memories.

The Funeral Services will be held at Frank Vogler & Son’s Clemmons Chapel. Visitation will be at 1:30 with the service beginning at 2:00pm on Sunday, July 8th. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park Family Plot.
