

He was born on December13,1949 to James Nathaniel Garland and Edna Mae Tucker Garland in Washington D.C.
Jimmy attended Louisburg College (NC), the University of Florida (Jacksonville) and East Tennessee University.
Baseball was his life long love and he was involved from Little League into his adult life. Jimmy was a proud member
of the James Madison Warhawks team that won the first Virginia High School League Baseball State Championship
in 1968. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame there in 2002. After playing minor league ball for Kingsport in the Appalachia League he was drafted and played minor league baseball for the Kansas City Royals. He always played second base.
Playing baseball was the highlight of his life. He loved the Redskins, Washington Nationals, L A Dodgers and Wake Forest
basketball.
Jimmy was predeceased by his parents.

The funeral service will be Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 2pm at Frank Vogler & Sons Funeral Home, 2951 Reynolda Rd. The family will receive friends for a visitation one hour prior to service. Jimmy will be laid to rest at Forsyth Memorial Park after the services.
