Mrs. Janet Elizabeth Burrows

Janet Elizabeth Burrows passed away peacefully on October 20, 2010 at the age of 86. She was born Janet Elizabeth Munson on July 5, 1924 in Rochester, NY to Parents, Marian Elizabeth Bennett Munson and Charles Harold Munson.

Before long, the family moved to Flint, MI where Janet grew up. She attended Flint Central High School and graduated from Michigan State University. After graduation, Janet lived at home and went to work for the phone company. She remained involved for the rest of her life in the activities of her college sorority, Kappa Kappa Gamma.

Janet married Gordon Thompson Burrows in 1954 and they began their life together in Gary, IN, where Janet spent much time raising their four children and contributing her energy to school, community and church activities.

The family eventually re-located to Pittsburgh, PA. Janet and family became members of Northmont United Presbyterian Church. Janet was very involved at Northmont, eventually becoming ordained as an Elder. While in Pittsburgh, Janet worked for Sears, Roebuck and Company in various capacities.

Later in life Janet re-located to Bermuda Run, North Carolina in order to be near family. While at Bermuda Run, Janet continued to be as active and involved as her health would allow. Janet was a more than 50 year active member of PEO.

A memorial reception will be held at Bermuda Village on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 3:30 p. m.

Janet is survived by her children, Gordon Thompson Burrows and wife, Pat Hunt-Burrows of Westchester, IL, Laura Elizabeth Burrows of Austin, TX, Charles Munson Burrows and wife, Susan and Ellen Janet Hertz and husband, Erik; grandchildren, Sarah, Sam, Bill and Charlie Burrows and Georgia and Kurt Hertz; and innumerable loving nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society.
