My heart breaks to think that I will not be able to talk with Jan, share hugs with her, and laugh with her. We supported each other through so many difficult, as well as joyous, times in our lives, and I miss her terribly. She was so full of love for her family who were the center of her life. I told her many times what a blessing it was for her to have all of you so close by and to share your lives on a daily basis. Billy, Dawn, Scott, and Gerri, just know (as I know you already do) that there was nothing more important to her than you and her precious grandchildren. I am so happy for her, and for you, that she had such a rich life with such an amazing support system. Her loss leaves a hole in my life, but I have many years of memories with Jan that make me smile. Just know that I will continue to hold you in my thoughts and heart in the difficult days ahead. Love you all, Carole

My heart just breaks for you all. Janice was always my favorite person to go and visit with yearly at the Health Department. She was always telling me about her children and grandchildren and how proud she was of all of their accomplishments. Janice was always precise with her work and very proud to get her certificates every year from the State of North Carolina. I will truly miss seeing Janice and her beautiful smile. She never would let me leave the Health Department without her giving me a hug and a taste of one of her famous cakes. May the memories of Janice and the love of your family surround you and give you strength in the days ahead.

I will miss this sweet lady every day. I will mostly miss her hugs and her sweet smile and our conversations. She was certainly a shining light in this world and she touched me in ways she didn't even know. My prayers and love for all her family.

I had the honor and pleasure of working with Jan for many years at Forsyth County Department of Public Health. She was an outstanding employee who was very dedicated to her work and would go above and beyond what was expected. More so than that, she was a wonderful friend. There was something very special about her in that she had an ability to always make me feel better even on a bad day. She always had a smile on her face and gave the best hugs ever. I was blessed to be the recipient of many of those hugs and I will miss those greatly. I will also miss our weekly meetings at Liberty Restaurant for breakfast, where often we stayed until lunch, talking about family, sharing pictures, talking about how things use to be and having some good laughs.
I will miss my great friend but know that one day I will see her again.

When I think of Ms Jan, I think of the mother of proverbs 31::28-31. "Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates". We are going to miss you Ms Jan, but praise God we know that you have entered the gates of heaven and you are with Jesus our Lord! So it's not goodbye but we will see you again!

The years have gone by so fast, we have talked about life and our families for the last 57 years.. The life before Russ and children , my life with Tommy and before children.....our boys growing up and spreading their wings... Death of parents, Russ, Tommy, Lee... We always had each other to talk too... You were the best of friends God gave me... You will be missed by everyone ,Oh my, you will...... Your love of family and friends were God's gift to us...
My thoughts are with grandchildren that she thought was the light of her world... and of course her boys... Daughters (in-laws).
My thoughts and Prayers are with family and friends ...

Ms Jan was one of the sweetest and kindest people I have ever met. She would give some of the best hugs. Her smile was like sunshine. She would brighten up your day so I'm sure heaven is a little brighter now that you're there! Take your rest pretty lady!
To the family I pray that God will comfort you and replace your sadness with precious memories.

Please know that my heart goes out to all of Jan's family during this very sad time. I will never forget Jan's beautiful smile and big heart. I will miss coming in, early morning at work and saying good morning Jan, are you there. Once finding out that she was there, I would walk around to her cubicle...she would give me a hug and we would chat for a bit. She always talked about her family...she loved you all so much and loved whenever she was with you, she especially loved when you all got together for Sunday dinner at her house. Hold on to all of those precious memories and know the times she spent with all of you, her family, was the most precious thing you could have given her. Jan will be sincerely missed.
