John Hamp Shell Jr.

John was retired from the Winston-Salem Fire Department. He loved playing Bluegrass music. His band, Forsyth County Boys, played at the Grand Ole Opry and was also on the radio. He also was an A1 mechanic and enjoyed building race cars.

John is survived by his beloved wife Gracie Marie Norman Shell, their seven children, Joan Hoilman (Danny), Gregory Shell, Gail Shell, Michael Shell, Jeff Shell, Marcelle Pegrem (Kenny) Zane Shell (Cathy), five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, one sister, Virginia Myers and one brother Curtis Shell (Virginia).

A visitation will be held at Frank Vogler and Sons on Reynolda Rd., Thursday, February 12th from 12:00 – 5pm. A graveside service will be Friday at 1:00pm at Oaklawn Cemetery.
