He is survived by his wife of 59 years Ann Dovi; his son John (Ann) Dovi and granddaughters, JoAnn and Kimberly; and his daughter Linda (Allie) Hutchison and grandsons, J.C and Grant.
Joe was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on June 18, 1930 to the late John Torcivia and Concetta Nigrelli Dovi. After attending the Milwaukee School of Engineering, he was drafted into the Army and proudly served his country over seas. He was an avid sportsman in his younger years; he loved the Green Bay Packers and enjoyed skiing, tennis, golf, and the beautiful game of bocce. He held a life long love for building and drafting. He spent 30 years in the steel industry working around the country, retiring from US Steel after 25 years and then working at TransAmerican Steel in NC for 5 years. He then began a different career at AMP and retired again, after 15 years.
He thoroughly enjoyed his retirement and was very active at his church with the self-titled ROMEOS, and also spent hours playing and promoting bocce at Miller Park with a wonderful group of friends.
His family would like to acknowledge and thank the Trellis nurses, Melinda, Megan and Chastity for the support and care they offered during Joe’s final days, with a special thanks to the Chaplin Rick Charles for the warmth and care of his late night visit to pray with the family.
The mass celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, May 16th at 11am at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4820 Kinnamon Road. The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 10am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Trellis Supportive Care or Holy Family Catholic Church.
