

Joe was born on April 13, 1949, in Guilford County, to the late Grady and Mary Snow Ensley. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Gregory Ensley. He lived in Thomasville all of his life and was of the Baptist faith. Lanny grew up on the family tobacco farm and helped his family raise tobacco from a young age up until he graduated High School. Joe was a graduate of Ledford High School, and retired as a truck driver and warehouse manager with Rex Oil Company after 34 years of service. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a humble, honest, and dedicated father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, friend, who always put his family first. He was loved by many and will be missed dearly by all that knew him.
Joe leaves behind to cherish his memory two daughters, Angela Greene and her husband, Skip of Archdale and Cynthia Kendrick and her husband, John of Trinity; two sisters, Mitzi Hayworth and her husband, Larry and Michelle Clodfelter and her husband, Timmy all of Thomasville; three grandchildren, Brittany Ensley, Patrick Kendrick, and Lexi Greene and one great grandson, Wyatt Allison.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 21st at Zion United Church of Christ with Rev/Dr. James Simonds and Rev. Roger Carmichael officiating. Interment will be held at the church cemetery immediately following the services. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 20th from 6 until 8 PM, at Zion United Church of Christ, 130 Hasty School Road, Thomasville, NC.
