Lynda East East Arrington
October 24, 1940 – November 1, 2013
Mrs. Lynda East Arrington, 73, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 1, 2013, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem.
Lynda was born on October 24, 1940, in Forsyth County, a daughter to the late Raymond Lee East and Edna East Lankford. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Arrington of 17 years; a prior husband, William Gray Wagoner; sister, Sara Kirby; brother-in-law, Harry Kirby; maternal grandmother, Laura Redmond Huffman.
Lynda grew up as a member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church and later in life attended Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. In Junior High she was a member of the Marching Band and was drafted into the High School Marching Band, while in High School she remained in the marching band and became a member of the Winston-Salem Junior Symphony and a member of The Winston-Salem Symphony in the percussion section. Lynda had an amazing music talent and could play several instruments. In mid-life she taught herself to play the guitar and joined a bluegrass band. She then established a band called The Clemmons West Bluegrass Band. As a member of this band she enjoyed the music, playing at functions, making friends and adding the stand-up bass to the instruments she learned to play. She found extreme joy in her grandchildren and her four great grandchildren. Even in her declining health she enjoyed being outside and playing bingo. Lynda was a loving and dedicated daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She will be dearly missed by all that knew her.
She is survived by three daughters, Laura Darnell and husband, Ralph of Advance, Debbie Cook and husband, Tim of Winston-Salem and Diana Read and husband, Quincy of Clover, SC; two step children, Sherry Huepper and husband, Greg of Huntersville, NC and Wayne Arrington of Winston-Salem; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren; two aunts, Mable Huffman and Phyllis Huffman both of Winston-Salem and cousins, Regina, Jimmy and Charles.
A funeral service will be held at 3 PM, Monday, November 4th in the Chapel of Frank Vogler and Sons, Clemmons Chapel, with Dr. Cecil Cave officiating. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday, November 3rd, from 6 until 8 PM.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mineral Springs Baptist Church, 5460 Skylark Road, Pfafftown, NC 27040 or to American Cancer Society, 1901 Brunswick Ave, STE 100, Charlotte, NC 28207.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to Amani Home Care members Tim Gupton, Darlene Wake, Renee Campbell, Louise Dickson, and Manula Wilson; for the unconditional love, care and support given to our mother and family during this difficult time. I miss you so much but at the same time it is comforting to know that your pain is gone and is replaced with being in the company of Jesus and all of your loved ones you had missed so much. I know you and PaPa Jack are playing some wonderful bluegrass gospel now :) Love you! Laura
