
Margaret Ward Brewer Bayer, 101, of Clemmons NC passed away Thursday, July 13, 2023 at the Kate B. Reynolds’s Hospice Home in Winston Salem, NC. She was born December 6, 1921 in Advance, NC, the daughter of William Levin Ward Sr. and Mary Watkins Ward.
Preceding her in death were her brothers and their spouses: Charles T. Ward Sr. and Juanita S. Ward; William Levin Ward Jr. and Pansy C. Ward; David H. Ward and Frances R. Ward; and John L. Ward.
She was also preceded in death by her first husband Robert Plato Brewer Sr. her second husband Jack R. Bayer and two step children, Bob Bayer and Sandra Bayer.
Surviving are her son Robert P. Brewer Jr. of Clemmons, NC, step daughter-in-law Bobbi Y. Bayer of Raleigh, NC and many cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Margaret was a homemaker, held great memories of acquaintances and friends from her 39 year career with Hanes Corporation beginning with P.H. Hanes Knitting Company in Winston Salem, NC, her community involvement, and loving memories of her early life in Advance, NC and Clemmons, NC graduating from Clemmons High School, class of 1938.
She held a very special place in her heart for each and every member of her family, and those sharing their love with music. Her flower gardens were special – especially her roses.
Margaret played piano and as church organist served Centenary United Methodist Church of Clemmons
and First Christian Church of Clemmons, formerly Muddy Creek Church of Christ with 30 years of combined service. Her strong faith, love of family, many friends, and community service throughout life was of most importance. Margaret was a past president of the Clemmons Civic Club Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary Unit 119 of Clemmons. She was a member of the Winston Salem Rose Society, the Central Carolina Dahlia Society, and Centenary United Methodist Church of Clemmons.
A graveside service will be held, Tuesday, July 18th, 2023 at 10:45am at Centenary United Methodist Church Cemetery with Reverend Oscar Zuniga and Reverend Roland Barnhardt officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
