Mary Sue Gough King

Mary Sue was born in Yadkin County, North Carolina to Robert Arvil and Phiza Williams Gough on March 26, 1922. She worked at Western Electric/AT&T in the medical department as an X-Ray and laboratory technician, was active in the Telephone Pioneers and had many wonderful friends there.

She was a member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church for over 70 years. At church, she loved teaching children in Sunday School and she served on the Social Committee for many years.

Mary Sue is preceded in death by her husband, Carmel L. King, and 5 siblings, Paul Gough, Ruth Gough, Mabel Smith, Maud New, and Sally Shaffer.

Mary Sue leaves behind her loving daughter, Judy Cunningham; her devoted son, The Reverend Stephen King; grandchildren Suzanne (Craig) LaVenture and Dr. Cindy Cunningham; great-grandchildren Nicole Hunolt, Daniel LaVenture, and Anna LaVenture; great-great-grandchildren Kira Hunolt and Lily Hunolt; sister-in-law, Bernice Gough; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Service will be Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 2pm at Frank Vogler & Sons Funeral Home, 2951 Reynolda Rd. The service will be officiated by Dr. Gus Thomas and Dr. Cecil Cave. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery.

The family requests memorials be made to Mineral Springs Baptist Church.
