Mary Elizabeth "Libby" Sykes

Mary Elizabeth "Libby" Johnson Sykes of Lewisville, went to be with our Lord and Savior on July 14th at Forsyth Medical Center at the age of 74. A native of Goldsboro, NC, Libby was the wife of almost 50 years to her husband Cecil Sykes, the daughter of Bruce and Ruby Johnson (both deceased) and a wonderful mother to their three children, Chris, Holly, and Brandy. She was also the best Mimi to all 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Libby enjoyed spending her free time with her grandchildren, baking, watching Gunsmoke and Iron Chef and doing endless crossword puzzles. She never failed to make it to any special event for her children and grandchildren. Libby also loved spending time at the Wellness Gym working out and socializing with her friends.

Libby is survived by her husband Cecil, son Chris Sykes (Jamie), daughter Holly Osborne (Eric), daughter Brandy Paul (Wes) and 7 grandchildren Drew Sykes, Becky Brown, Tiffany Wells, Allison Semones, Lilly Sykes, Connor Gillaspie and Oliver Gillaspie. Also survived by her 10 great grandchildren, as well as dozens of "adopted" children and grandchildren who called her Mom/Mimi.

A celebration of life service for Libby will be held at 5 pm on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at Frank Vogler and Sons Funeral Home in Clemmons. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service starting at 4 pm and also following the service till 7 pm.
