

Matt was born December 31, 1968, in Henrico County, VA a son to Fredrick G. Overstreet and the late Phyllis Coleman Overstreet. In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by a nephew, Christian Overstreet.
He was of the Christian faith and a musician. He started playing his guitar at the age of 10, after a few lessons Matt became a self-taught guitarist. His first and favorite band was Circus Baby with band members, Bunny Beasley, Chris Tedder, and Dyle Russell. Music was a big part of his life, as he played in several bands throughout the years and was currently in a band. He enjoyed exercising and riding bikes, being in nature, and was proud of hiking the Appalachian Trial with his lifelong friend Bunny Beasley. He was a loving and humble man that never met a stranger.
Matt is survived by his wife, Toni Ireland Overstreet of the home; son, Zack Overstreet of Winston-Salem; father, Fredrick “Fred” Overstreet of Winston-Salem; brother, John Gordon Overstreet of Winston-Salem; two step daughters, Lea Ireland of Mocksville and Robbie Tedder and her husband, Chris of Kernersville; four grandchildren, Ashley, Logan, Chloe, and Ella; and niece Melissa Baker and husband, Jeremy of Winston-Salem.
A celebration of life will be held 2 PM, Saturday, in the Chapel of Frank Vogler and Sons Funeral Home Reynolda Road, with Pastor Jeff Hamlett officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Celebrate Recovery, Pinedale Christian Church, 3395 Peters Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27127.
