Mike was born November 2, 1962, in Greenville, PA to the late Albert and Beverly Bendig, the 6th of 9 children in the family. On October 8, 1988, he was united in marriage with Patricia Godula, in Monroeville, PA. They moved to Clemmons in 1996.
A Management Information System graduate of Clarion University of PA, he was employed at Qorvo, Greensboro, NC, as a Sr. MIS Systems Developer. He was a devoted and caring husband and father. Being involved with his children’s activities was very important to him. Mike enjoyed his continual work with the Boy Scouts of America and loved helping to coach his daughter’s lacrosse team at West Forsyth High School.
Mike loved music and “lived his dream” as the Bass player for the EXIT 180 Band. He was also an avid cycler and was always encouraging others to join him in this hobby. Mike was a great husband, father, brother, uncle, coworker and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Mike is survived by his wife Patricia, his son Taylor, 21, and daughter Erin, 16. He is also survived by his brothers Tom (Lu) of Charlotte, NC; Steve (Dawn) of Birmingham, AL; Dave (Shawn) of Smyrna, GA; Paul (Tammy) of Fairview, PA; Matt (Natalie) of Greenville, PA, and Wes (Patty) Russell of Albany, IN; and his sisters Chris (Scott) Andrews of Lake Wylie, SC, and Annie of Cranberry Twp., PA: and his sisters- and brothers-in-law Karen & Dennis Cadwell of Murrysville, PA, and Diane & Ben Tranchini of Monroeville, PA. He also had 11 nieces and 8 nephews, 3 great-nieces and 2 great-nephews.
There will be no visitation. We welcome everyone to join us for a funeral mass and celebration of life on August 22, 2015, at 10am at Holy Family Catholic Church, Clemmons, NC. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mike’s memory may be sent to Camp Southern Ground (www.campsouthernground.org) or the Boy Scouts of America Old Hickory Council.
The family wishes to thank the Doctors, Nurses, and Respiratory Therapists of the CICU at Forsyth Medical Center who provided such wonderful care to Mike and his family during those few weeks.
