

Mrs. Myrtle Reavis Shermer, 95, died October 29, 2015, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born September 4, 1920, to William Luther Reavis and Henrietta Reavis. Myrtle Shermer was a member of College park Baptist Church where she served in the nursery for 36 years. She brought joy to a lot of people singing with the Grace Notes and volunteering at The Baptist Home where she was a Holy Roller. Volunteers given this title held the privilege of rolling residents to the chapel for the weekly services. In 1939 she played professional basketball in the AAU for Hanes Hosiery. Myrtle served her community for many years by delivering Meals On Wheels and working every week at the Crisis Control Center. Mrs, Shermer was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Clarence Dillard Shermer, her Son-In-Law, Paris Moody Pepper, her Mother and Father, and three Sisters. She is survived by her son, Tom Shermer, and wife Janet; daughters, Brenda S. Lawson and Debra S. Pepper; grand-children Tom Shermer II and wife Jennifer, Steve Shermer and wife Melissa, Carrie L Blankenship and husband Chris, Preston Pepper and wife Tiffany, Eric T. Pepper and Chelsea Tisolkas, and Ryann Carnall; great-grand children Austin and Allison Shermer, Makenzie Carnall, Keegan and Kendall Blankenship. Gracious thanks to her loving caregivers Darlene Bottoms and Danielle Rankine. Visitation will be held at College Park Baptist Church on Monday, November 2, 2015, from 10 am to 11 am followed by a service at 11 am with the Rev. Ramon Smith, and Rev. Christa Warise.
