It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that our family announces the passing of our much beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather Ned Sigmon on Monday, June 16, 2025. Ned was born on August 17, 1939 to William Maxwell Sigmon and Ernestine Hilton Sigmon of Hickory, North Carolina. Ned grew up in the Hickory area along with his brother Max whom he loved. He attended North Carolina State University where he majored in Mechanical Engineering.
Ned married the love of his life, Lynda Reece on June 4, 1961. They then moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where he pursued a master’s degree from the University of New Mexico and went on to work at Sandia Corporation. After the addition of three children Cindy, Mike, and Greg, they moved back to North Carolina where their family expanded to include grandchildren Melinda, Sarah, Heather, Amy, and Reece. Following them are great grandchildren, Caroline, James, Claire, and Emily. Nothing brought Ned greater joy than the love of his family.
Ned and Lynda were active members of Clemmons United Methodist Church. Ned was a true and faithful man, guiding his children into the word of God. There was not a better example of a good and faithful servant. Even in his very quiet way, Ned was always a great example of the fruits of the spirit as written in Galatians 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” Ned showed all these qualities and was a wonderful example to us all of each of these. He will be greatly missed by all of us.
Ned is survived by his loving wife Lynda, brother Max Sigmon, children Cindy (David), Mike (Michelle), Greg (Lisa), grandchildren Melinda (Richard), Sarah (Matt), Heather, Amy, Reece, great grandchildren Caroline, James, Claire, and Emily.
A memorial service for Ned will be held at Clemmons United Methodist Church located at 3700 Clemmons Road, Clemmons, NC 27012 on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at 2:00 pm. A visitation with reception will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Clemmons United Methodist Church, 3700 Clemmons Road, Clemmons, NC 27012.
