Mrs. Ossie Lea Whitt Brickey, 94, of Advance, NC, died Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at Bermuda Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Ossie was born on August 4, 1920 in Scott County, VA. On August 21, 1935, she married her childhood sweetheart, Graham Wood Brickey, who preceded her in death in June, 2002. She was of the Baptist faith and the love she felt for her Lord and Savior was evident in all she said and did.

In addition to her husband of 66 years, she was preceded in death by a great grandchild, Justin Ray Brickey. She is survived by eight children, Odas Ray and wife, Gerry of Lisbon, CT; Glen Jackson and wife, Mildred of Winston-Salem; Troy Franklin and wife, Carolyn of East Bend; Shirley Ann Dorton and husband, Billy of East Bend; Wanda Faye Brickey of Yadkinville; David Eugene and wife, Jean of Mocksville; Rufus Marrison and wife, Courtney of East Bend; Ronnie Lee and wife, Noreen of Pfafftown; fourteen grandchildren, Jerry and Kim, Deborah and Elizabeth, Robin and Andy, Crystal, April, Hillary and Abby, Jason, Tiffany and Garrett, and Brittany; eighteen great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.

She was a homemaker and a loving and beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, a friend and earthly angel to everyone that came in contact with her. Ossie was known for her country cooking, her beautiful hand stitched quilts and her witty stories of life in Virginia. She had an infectious smile and sweet laugh that always lit up a room.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, November 29th in the Chapel of Vogler & Sons Funeral Home, 2849 Middlebrook Drive, Clemmons NC, with Chaplin Jon Smith and Rev. Chip Webb officiating. Burial will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:30 PM, Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all the care givers and staff at Bermuda Commons, for the love, care, and support given to her during her time at the facility.
