Peggy Gardner Tyson, 78, passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2025. Born August 23, 1947, in Rocky Mount, NC, she was the daughter of the late James David and Ruth Baker Gardner. She was also preceded in death by brothers Bobby, Gary, Ronnie, Stephen, and Horace Gardner.
She is survived by her husband, Andrew Branch Tyson; brothers Jerry, Jimmy and Charles Gardner; sisters Inez Ezzell, Edith Phillips and Brenda Eason; daughters Kathryn Michel and husband Ryan of Winston-Salem, NC and Elizabeth Lovern and husband Blair of Plano, TX; stepchildren Andrea Garwood and husband Keith of Garner, NC, Andrew Tyson II and wife Andrea of Virginia Beach, VA, Jill Tyson of Wilson, NC; grandchildren Simon and Sam Michel, Hunter and Tyson Garwood, Ashley Alston and Mason Tyson; and 6 great grandchildren.
Peggy cherished her time with her children and grandchildren who brought such love and joy to her life and felt so blessed to have 8 brothers and 3 sisters.
A memorial service will be held Monday, December 1, 2025, at 11 am at Highland Presbyterian Church, Winston-Salem, NC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to highlandpres.org or crisiscontrol.org, where Peggy served faithfully.
