Robert “Bob” Paul Donohoe, 82, passed away on April 25th, 2024 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was born to Paul and Grace Donohoe on May 23, 1941. He was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts.
Bob attended St. Mary’s High School in Brookline, MA where he played baseball and football. Bob stayed local for college and attended Boston College and graduated in 1963 with a degree in Business and a minor in Theology. Following college, he joined the Navy in 1963 and served as an officer for 3 years.
Growing up, Bob enjoyed spending summers in Falmouth, MA where he served as a lifeguard at Falmouth beaches throughout high school and college. This is where he met the love of his life Barbara who also spent summers on the Cape and lived across the street.
Bob and Barbara were married in 1967, moved to Rhinebeck, NY where he started working for General Foods. The family grew with the births of Patrick in 1967 and Tracey in 1968. In 1970, the family moved to New Jersey where Bob started working for Liggett & Myers Tobacco Company. He would then be promoted to District Manager and moved to Cleveland, OH. The family grew once again with the birth of Paul in 1973. In 1974, Bob was promoted to Promotion Manager and the family headed south to Raleigh, NC. In 1978, he began working for Hanes Hosiery in marketing which brought them to Winston-Salem where the family lived in Lewisville.
In 1982, Bob formed Trone, Donohoe & Johnson, a full-service advertising agency, in Greensboro, NC. Clients included R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, Ciba Geigi and Chi-Chi’s. In 1991, after always wanting to be in business for himself he formed Quest Companies, a marketing services company. Clients included R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, Altria, Japan Tobacco, Smithfield Foods, Intel, Hanes Brands, Coca-Cola, Volvo Trucks and Reebok. Bob and Barbara semi-retired in 2001 and split time between Mocksville, NC and Isle of Palms, SC.
After a long career in marketing and being devoted to his wife and family, Bob is survived by his loving wife of over 57 years, Barbara Parsons Donohoe; his children Patrick, Tracey (Brad), and Paul; his grandchildren, Shelby and Reagan; his brothers Brian (Nancy), Dennis and Steve (Claire); many nieces and nephews; and countess loved ones and friends.
Bob will always be an inspiration and role model for all that were lucky enough to know him. He was kind and humble and strong in his faith.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Catholic Church in Clemmons on Friday, May 3, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.
