Ruby was born in McBee, SC on May 31, 1936 to Simon and Leta Burnett. At the young age of 3, her father passed away, leaving Ruby in the care of the Methodist Children’s Home in Winston Salem. She remained a supporter of the Alumni Association of the children’s home her entire life.
Ruby was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Warren Abbott. She leaves behind her daughter, Sherrie (Scott) Johns; grandchildren, Jeremy (Sarah) Johns, Seth (Jess) Johns, Sean (Shawnda) Johns, and Christian (Ashley) Johns; and 7 great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 6th at 1pm at Frank Vogler & Sons in Clemmons. She will be entombed at Westlawn Gardens of Memory.
