Scott Edward McCliment

October 23, 1953January 1, 2021

Scott Edward McCliment passed away on January 1st, 2021 at the age of 67. Scott was born on October 23rd, 1953 in Youngstown, Ohio to Edward and Peggy McMurray McCliment.

Scott opened SM Interiors in 1980 and in his 40 years of work everyone who experienced his craftsmanship knew there was nothing Scott couldn’t build, fix, or create. Along with his talents, Scott was known for his generosity, humility, and outgoing personality. There was nothing he loved more than dancing to his favorite songs with his two girls while cooking up something in the kitchen. Scott also loved to spend time with his friends and family that he so deeply loved. His contagious laugh and humor had a natural way of bringing fun to every moment you shared with him.

Scott was also unwaveringly humble and always willing to help those around him. There was never a project or endeavor he refused; he was generous with both his time and effort. Scott’s greatest joy was his ability to bring joy to others -- something he did constantly.

Scott is survived by his daughters Emily (Griff) Kuremsky, and Meredith McCliment, grandsons Thomas and Benjamin Kuremsky (who joined the family on Scott’s last birthday this past October); siblings James (Jeanne) McCliment, Lynn (Preston) Broach, Craig (Debbie) McCliment, and Brian McCliment; girlfriend, Karol Cherry; along with many other family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held at a future date due to COVID concerns.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Scott’s honor to the House of Prayer, a place that gave Scott and his family the blessing of additional years together. These can be offered to the House of Prayer, 5884 Riverdale Dr, Jamestown, NC 27282.

Sad to read a friend has passed. I knew Scott and his family for many years through Preston and Lynn. Just wanted to give my condolences to all of his family and close friends who will miss him as a father , a brother and a friend. Will be there at a future memorial.

I will always remember Scott coming over to our house working and him letting James "help" . The smile on both of their faces was priceless.

Tim & I enjoyed getting to know Scott, Emily and Meredith through our friend and coworker KK. What I remember most about Scott was his quick Witt and his cooking! He was a great host at his home and at the family beach house. You could tell how much his girls loved him! One time, on one of our beach trips with KK & Scott, we were sitting around talking and eating, and I made a comment about how all this eating was making me fat and Scott said, “ you’re not fat!, just a little plump”, of course everyone thought that was funny! (Not me of course!). He quickly tried to change his wording!! We are so very sorry for your loss, I know you will fill that void in your heart with many Wonderful Memories! Prayers for you all!!

Kathy, Emily and Meredith: We were so very sad to hear about Scott. We started thinking about how we met your sweet family and our years together on the lake! Kylle and I just fell in love with you immediately! Scott was one of the kindest, most talented and most gentle souls we have ever met! May God bless you all and comfort you. May He remind you daily of how much you are loved!❤️
