Mrs. Serrelza Rose Moore Blalock of Pfafftown passed away on Sunday February 14, 2016 with her family by her side. She loved the Lord and was a long time member of Beck’s Baptist Church. She taught her children and grandchildren about the love of Jesus. Serrelza was a special person to everyone she met and will be greatly missed.
Serrelza was born on March 13, 1929 in Chatham, VA. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years Jack W. Blalock; her parents, Flournoy B. Moore and Grace E. Marilla Moore and eight brothers: Bo, Guy Hoover, John, Phil, Ruben, Doug, Keister and Kenny Wayne. Being the eldest girl of 13 children, Serrelza was a born caregiver. Helping rear her siblings, it only came natural to her to continue with pride being the homemaker and caregiver to her family. She was a selfless person who loved to share. Serrelza enjoyed growing flowers and watching birds, but her family brought her the most joy. She was a wonderful daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
She is survived by three children, David Blalock and wife Debbie of Naperville, IL; Susan Blalock of Pfafftown; John Blalock and wife Merissa of Rural Hall; one brother, Shelton Moore of Danville, VA; three sisters, Carolyn Megginson and husband Vic of Danville, VA; Anne Arbogast of Danville, VA and Jean Maggio and husband, Lee of Daytona Beach, FL; six grandchildren; Chad and wife Lisa, Cory and wife Teresa, Stormy, Chloe and Nicholas; and four great grandchildren; Kayla, Maiya, Ava and Colton.
A graveside service will be held at 2 PM Friday, February 19th with Rev. Rennie Adcock officiating at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 until 8 pm at Frank Vogler and Sons Funeral Home Reynolda Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dr. Ray Hamilton Fund at Beck’s Baptist Church, 5505 Beck’s Church Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27106 or to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
