Theresa Jo Furches passed away on February 10, 2023. She was born on November 12, 1961 in Wilksboro to the late Robert Gray and Billye Jo Zimmerman Furches. She was such a small child that her father lovingly nicknamed her ‘Little Bit,’ just ‘Bit’ for short, and the nickname stuck. Bit worked and retired from Piedmont Airlines as a reservationist after 25 years and then went to work for Novant Patient Access after her airline retirement.
Bit was truly one of a kind. She was compassionate and would do anything for anyone she loved. Bit was always concerned and looking out for others in her life. She was very social and outgoing. Bit never met a stranger. She related to people and related to them in a comfortable way.
Her compassionate and loving nature made her an amazing friend. Bit collected friendships throughout her lifetime. For over 40 years, she was a part of the ‘Pearl Girls,’ a group of five women closer than sisters, bent on having a good time though traveling, brunching, and spending time together. Bit also made some lifelong friendships at Piedmont Airlines, meeting with them regularly for dinners and their annual Christmas party.
Bit is survived by her son and pride-and-joy, Brian “Alex” Blackman (Sabrina Grime); stepdaughters, Elizabeth Blackman (Cody DeRosia) and Molly (Taylor) Brown; grandchildren, Avery Blackman, Grayson Brown, Anderson Brown, and Coleson Brown; and numerous other family members.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 11th at 11am at Clemmons United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends for a visitation following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Forsyth County Humane Society.
