He was born October 19, 1926 in Anson County, NC a son of Samuel Houston and Mary Mandy Moss Arrington. He married Patricia Davis on March 30th 1963. They later divorced. He then married Lynda East on February 26, 1996.
Also surviving are two children, Wayne (Staci) Arrington of Walnut Cove, Sherry (Greg) Huepper of Concord; three step children, Laura (Ralph) Darnell of Advance, Debbie (Tim) Cook of Winston-Salem, Diana (Quincy) Read of Clover, SC; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Nell Arrington of Winston-Salem; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and three sisters.
Jack was a devoted father and husband and an extremely kind and loving man.
He was of Baptist faith.
Jack was a U.S. Navy Veteran.
He loved Bluegrass music and taught himself to play guitar at the age of 13. Jack also played banjo and was in numerous bands throughout his life.
He was retired from RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company after 38 years of service.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2013 at Frank Volger and Sons Clemmons Chapel in Clemmons. Dr. Cecil Cave will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall.
