Joseph was a twin with a rich full life being born & raised in Winston Salem. After High School he joined the Navy 1967-1971 on the ship “Seattle.” With an honorable discharge he came to Atlanta, Georgia where he lived for 45 years until he returned to Winston Salem later in life to deal with health issues. He was a Catholic Buddhist who delighted in gardening; beautifying everywhere he lived. Because of onset blindness he enjoyed listening to books on CD & discussing them with his friends at Northside Dialysis. His social worker team was amazing & helped him through many hospital visits, surgery & pneumonia. He was brave until the end & full of joy and love for everyone.
He was preceded in death by father William Hooper, mother Josephine Griep Hooper, Siblings: Pat, Alan & Bridget & assorted nieces & nephews. He was blessed with many long time devoted friends who joined him along his path of life. He was a bright light for every one who met him. RIP dear soul & beloved brother in peace.
There will be no visitation or service as he requested. His ashes will rest in Hawaii.
