Son, brother, cousin and friend died peacefully at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House Monday afternoon. His beloved cousin and Felix to his Oscar, Barney Abruzzo, were at his side.
Born in Brooklyn, he (no matter where he resided), was a lifelong New Yorker. He loved all things NY. The foods, noises, his family and friends and most of all the YANKEES.
He was a kind-hearted soul that could tell a story better than anyone. He loved playing ball, eating all cuisines, laughing and making sure those around him were having a good time. Instead of a service, Bill wanted the people who loved him to gather wherever they are and share memories of the good times. He wants you to eat, drink and laugh.
We would like to thank his lifelong friends Paul and Jerry who were always there no matter what. He loved you both very much and you will always be our family.
Thanks to people at Hospice House for the wonderful care he received in his last days. Thank you to the caregivers from Bayada who took care of him in our home. Thank you, Miss Judy, for becoming a part of our lives and visiting him in hospice. He enjoyed seeing you. Thank you to all that called and visited him throughout the years and especially during his last days.
Dad and I take comfort in knowing that Bill is now surrounded by our Loved ones that have passed before him. We know that he is enjoying the best food that only our Mom and Grandmothers could cook. He is not only playing ball again but is being cheered on by his ex-wife Barbara. They were meant to be together.
