with her family by her side on July 5th, 2025. Abby is predeceased by her father
Harry Lodish, mother Naoma Lodish, and brother Jules Lodish (Carolyn Lodish).
She is survived by her daughter Erica Joy Labovitz (Nathan Olson), her grandson
Dylan L. Olson, her lifetime partner Harvey Labovitz, brothers Larry Lodish (Carole

Abby lived a rich life committed to her family and her profession, and she will be
remembered for her outgoing personality, endearing smile, love of laughter, and
caring nature.
Abby went through the Shaker Heights School system, graduating from Shaker in
1965 where she was active in the student community. She was an avid swimmer
and acted as a lifeguard during her school years. She attended Brandeis University
and received her Masters Degree in Social Work from The University of Buffalo.
She committed her life to helping others and was extremely proud of her forty year
career in psychotherapy. She held several positions over the years, including at
University Hospitals, Jewish Family Service Association, Fuchs Mizrahi Day School,
and her own private practice. Her greatest passion was working with children and
helping them navigate the big feelings that life inevitably brings.
Abby was fiercely dedicated to her nuclear and extended family. She was
consistently present in all of Erica’s activities growing up and as an adult, and she
loved being by Harvey’s side as they travelled together, played tennis, or enjoyed a
good book. Her house served as the center of many family gatherings and holiday
celebrations, and she loved to throw a good surprise party. She was a lifelong
member of The Park Synagogue and her Jewish identity informed all aspects of her
life.
Despite a long battle with dementia, Abby never lost her sense of humor, love of a
good meal, and connection to her family.
