Alan Friedman, born April 22, 1953 in Cleveland, Ohio, passed away on August 30 at the age of 73. He is predeceased by his parents, David and Ethel Friedman, and his sister Linda Novick. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Enid Friedman, and his two sons Brett and Seth Friedman, as well as his brother, Steven Friedman.
Loved as a father and husband, Alan was a pharmacist by trade, but will be remembered for his quiet presence, his love for his family, technology, baseball, and music, along with his curious nature and generous spirit. He also had an appreciation for the natural world and he was happy to share his birthday with the planet when, in 1970, April 22 was declared Earth Day.
Alan’s funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 2 at 11:00 am at Berkowitz-Kumin-Bookatz Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Solon, Ohio. Shiva will be held at the home of Enid Friedman. It will begin immediately following interment until 4:00 pm and again at 6:00-8:00 pm. Shiva will continue on Thursday from 1:00-4:00 pm and again at 6:00-8:00 pm.
No flowers, please. Instead, the family requests donations be made to one of Alan’s preferred charities: the Jewish Federation of Cleveland, the American Red Cross, the Southern Poverty Law Center, or Public Citizen.
