

Albert Roth departed this world on October 17, 2023. Born January 17, 1929, to immigrants Celia Scheinberg from Kiev, Russia and Charles Rothenberg from Miedzyrzec, Poland. He was followed by siblings Irving Roth(deceased), Gayl Edelstein and Michael Rothenberg(deceased).
Albert began his education in the Cleveland public schools but transferred from Glenville High School to Heights High when his family moved to Cleveland Hts. Albert left high school before graduation to enlist in the US Army at age 17 and he served in Germany at the end of World War 2. Upon return to the states, he attended The Ohio State University and earned a bachelor’s degree in Personnel Management and began one of his lifelong favorite past times, watching Buckeye football. After a year of odd jobs in the Miami Beach area he returned to Cleveland and was hired as a revenue officer for IRS and started evening classes at Cleveland Marshall School of Law earning a Juris Doctorate degree. Albert was later promoted to Chief of Special Procedures and remained with the IRS until he retired in 1985.
In 1957, He met the love of his life Miriam Heller at a dance at Fairmount Temple, the night of his brother Irv’s wedding. After a brief courtship they were married on August 10, 1958, and celebrated 65 years together. They enjoyed traveling to England, Alaska, Israel, and Florida among many other fabulous places. Albert enjoyed spending time with family, hosting holiday celebrations and cookouts or going to watch his grandchild play sports or perform on stage.
Albert always made time for things that were important to him. He was a Cub Scout Den Leader, South Euclid Democrat ward club officer, and season ticket holder for the Cleveland Browns for over a decade. An avid baseball fan, he worked concessions as kid so he could see the baseball games and watch Bob Feller pitch.
After retirement, Albert served on the loan committee of Century Federal Credit Union, and he heard lemon law cases as a Mediator for the state of Ohio. Another favorite pastime was to write letters to the editor of the Plain Dealer and the CJN. He had strong opinions and shared them with anyone who would engage in conversation.
Miriam and Albert were blessed with 3 children, Karen Roth Tindel (Darryl) Steven Roth (Ronit) and David Roth MD (Jennifer) and 8 grandchildren, Cory Roth MD, Chadwick Tindel, Asaf Roth, Arielle Tindel, Spencer Roth, Megan Roth, Yotam Roth and Romiya Roth.
Funeral arrangements by Berkowitz Kumin Bookatz Memorial Chapel Sunday October 22 at 1 PM with burial at Mt. Olive Cemetery. Shiva at the Roth residence 1992 Edenhall, immediately after the funeral and interment until 5pm & 7pm-9pm, Monday 2pm - 4pm and 7pm - 9pm. Donations can be sent to Jewish Family Service Association of Cleveland.
