

Alexander Samuel Kraut (Al) 93, beloved husband of the late Doris Kraut (“Duke”). Loving father of Nancy Leichtman (David) and Lori Rizzo (Larry). Devoted grandfather of Nicole (Paul) Malanaphy, Kevin (Anala) Leichtman and Joey Rizzo. Great grandfather of Braxton, Addalyn, and Asher. Dear brother of the late Sylvia Wurzman. Son of the late Samuel and Dora Kraut.
Al was born in 1925, in Wilkenberg, Pa. He went to Heights High School, where he was in a fraternity called the BAT’s. He served in the Navy in 1943 as an Apprentice Seaman and later an ensign. He was given the Victory Medal, and the American Area Campaign Medal when he was honorably discharged in 1946. Al went to Rice University where he played second base He later went to Ohio State University, where he graduated and received his Bachelor of Electrical Engineering Degree.
Al worked for Leff Electric in his early career and later worked with partner Stu Eisenberg at Lighting Sales Inc.
His interests included Acting in plays at The Chagrin Little Theatre, Singing Karaoke, telling jokes, fixing things and loved to do projects. He loved to Disco Dance. He loved boating and was a member at Lakeside Yacht Club.
Al and Doris later retired and moved to Ft. Myers Beach, Fl. After Doris passed he moved back to Ohio to be with his children who adored him. Al will be truly missed by his family, and many friends.
Services will be held Monday July 16 at 11 a.m. at the BERKOWITZ-KUMIN-BOOKATZ MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 1985 South Taylor Rd., Cleve. Hgts. Interment Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chesterland, Ohio.
