Delayed entry & didn't know Dr. Alan Peskin personally,  regrettably, but I do recall his appearance and presentation (over 20 years ago & recently replayed) on James A. Garfield  on C-Span's  "American Presidents- Life Portraits Series''-he was so extremely witty and knowledgeable during this episode that I found myself wishing that he had been my professor while I was at college.  I did eventually purchase his book on Garfield however!  Sincere belated condolences to his family on his passing...

Dr Peskin was my history advisor at CSU 1975-77 and I took several classes with him . He was one of the best profs I ever had and one of my top 3 history professors. He was interesting, creative, had a great sense of humor. I will never forget him assigning me a report on "The Wizard of Oz As A Populist Fable." I asked him how he knew it was one of my favorite films, he said he thought I'd like something offbeat which I took as a compliment. His course in Gilded Age America, a period I expected to be bored by, was one of the best in my college career. My condolences, it is sad that so many of the fine profs I had at CSU have passed. 

Dr. Peskin was my instructor for Civil War and Reconstruction, and it was an amazing experience. He was passionate about the period, and helped us all to learn about mining original sources for information that was relevant and useful. I learned so much about research methods in his class.

He was also funny, witty, and a genuinely kind man. I know his other students would say the same.

I have many fond memories of Professor Peskin. I always enjoyed talking music with him, as well as history, 

Condolences.  I too was a history student of prof. Peskin at CSU in '73-74.  He was among the best college teachers I had.  About 5 - 6 yr's ago I found his address on the CSU website and we exchanged emails.  He was glad to hear from me and remarkably looked up my grades and congratulated me on my improvement over the 2 quarters of his American history class.

I was a student of his. I greatly enjoyed his Civil War class, and his book reviews in the Plain Dealer. A wonderful professor and a wonderful man.

Dr. Peskin was among the excellent professors I remember so vividly from my undergraduate years. I took him two times as his lecturing was erudite; I learned a lot. I am so sorry to learn of his death, and I send my heartfelt condolences to his family, colleagues, and friends.

Dear Mrs. Peskin, Larry and Jimmy.  We are so sorry for your loss.  There are so many wonderful memories we have of Dr. Peskin.  He always made us feel at home, and brought a smile with his wit.  We are all lucky that he was in our lives.  Much love.

Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss.  I was fortunate to have studied under Dr. Peskin at Cleveland State and will forever carry with me his love and dedication to the historical profession.  I still recall his engaging lectures always interspersed with his sense of humor.  He will be greatly missed and not forgotten.

I deeply sorry that we lost this wonderful man. The Peskins aren't just our neighbors, they've been part of our family for more than 4 decades. I have wonderful memories of running out to chat when I saw Allan and Barbara walking their dogs. And memories of Larry too many to count. My thoughts and prayers are with you now and always. May God console you among the other mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.

My condolences to the Peskin family. Mr. Peskin will be sorely missed. I have many fond memories of visiting with Alan and Barbara over the many years of my friendship with Larry. My family and I greatly appreciated his welcoming ways and especially his sense of humor. He was a very respected professor and author and we will miss him.
