

Anna Beer (nee Plutzer), age 90, of Cleveland Heights died August 23, 2016. Loving wife for 44 years of Jack (deceased). Anna came to the United States from Belgium by way of France and Morocco fleeing Belgium the day the king surrendered to the Nazis in 1940. She was born in Rzeszow, Poland moving with her family to Belgium when she was young to avoid anti-Semitism. Anna went to high school in New York City and married Jack there. They moved to Cleveland in 1948. Originally a diamond cutter working for The Rudolph Deutsch Co. in downtown Cleveland, Anna and Jack later owned the only restaurant in the original Shoregate Shopping Center. Anna herself worked as a waitress in several Eastern Suburban restaurants including over 20 years at Corky & Lenny's in South Euclid. Her son, Alan, was killed in bus bombing in Israel in 2003. She is survived by her children; daughters Esther Sora (Menachem -deceased) Carroll of Norfolk, Virginia, Cooki (Howard) Maisel of Efrat, Israel and her son, Lenny (Penny) of University Heights; grandchildren Yonah (Rivka) Roberts of Virginia Beach, VA, Dov (Racheli) Maisel, Sima (Yehoshua) Sherman, Aurital (Shimon) Bitton, Akiva (Mor) Maisel, Yonatan (Noam) Maisel, Shira (Noam) Netzer and Avigayil Maisel (all of Israel), Charles (Lisa) Beer and Elya Beer of University Heights, Uzi (Rachel) Beer of Springfield, NJ and Jacob Beer of Detroit. She is also survived by 28 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held in Mt. Olive Cemetery (Forest City Hebrew Benevolent section) on Thursday, August 25 at 2:30 PM. The family will observe shiva at the residence of Lenny and Penny Beer, 4377 Churchill Blvd., University Hts. THURSDAY FOLLOWING BURIAL UNTIL 9:30 PM, FRIDAY 10 AM TO 12 NOON, AND SUNDAY THROUGH TUESDAY FROM 10 AM TO 12 PM, 2 PM TO 4 PM AND 6 PM TO 9:30 PM. Davening daily at 7:30 AM and Sunday at 8:30 am.
