Barbara Rose Hermelin, nee Barbara Rose Rapport, passed away on April 13, 2023, at the age of 90. She was born on March 4, 1933, in Cleveland, Ohio, on the same day as the first inauguration of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. She was raised by a single mother during the Great Depression.
Barbara lived her entire life in Cleveland and was married to Meyer Hermelin, who preceded her in death. She was a loving mother to her two daughters, Lori Bush and Teri Fisher, and a devoted grandmother to her two grandchildren.
Barbara loved classic movies, especially musicals, and enjoyed playing bridge, Scrabble, and mahjong. She was a skilled player and took great pride in her frequent winning streaks at the game table.
Throughout her life, Barbara faced many challenges, losing her mother and her husband well before their time. But she always had the love and devotion of her two daughters who she raised to be strong, successful, independent women.
Barbara will be remembered for her chopped liver, strawberry Jello mold and quirky habits, but mostly for her commitment to her daughters and their families. Her life will be a reminder that happiness is a choice and there is beauty to be found in everyday little moments; you just have to let it in.
Services will be held Sunday April 16, 2023 at 12:30 PM at Zion Memorial Park Cemetery, 5461 Northfield Rd. Bedford Hts.
