

Barbara passed away on March 13, 2026. Born in Cleveland to Sue and Ed Brofman (of blessed memory), Barbara was a graduate of Cleveland Heights High School, Class of January 1957. She earned a Bachelor’s degree from Case Western Reserve University and a Master’s degree from John Carroll University.
Barbara was the beloved mother of Meredith Heller and Lauren (Randall) Shy whom she raised in Pepper Pike with her husband of 43 years, Bernard “Bunny” Goldfarb (OBM). She was a proud congregant of The Park Synagogue and served as its Development Director from 1989 - 2012. Barbara was also a past Chair of the Women’s Division of Greater Cleveland Israel Bonds and a past President of the Beechmont Country Club Women’s Association. In 2013 she married Norman Wain (OBM) and remained by his side until his death in 2020.
In addition to her two daughters, Barbara is survived by her cherished sister, Marilyn (Richard) Goodman, and niece, Dana Goodman. She also leaves behind countless friends who will miss her sharp wit and devotion.
Services will be held at The Park Synagogue, 27500 Shaker Blvd., Pepper Pike, OH 44124, on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at 2:00 PM. Interment to follow at Bet Olam Cemetery. Those who cannot attend live can watch via Zoom here:
