Bernice Gettler Levinson Sharpe, aged 96, passed away this past week. Born in 1929 to Hyman and Rose Gettler, Bernice grew up in New York. After her marriage to Irving Levinson (d. 1989), she moved to Ohio where she spent the rest of her life. An active and professional woman, Bernice worked at the Cleveland Clinic for decades, and raised two children, Larry S. Levinson (1951-2012) and Robin Helen Levinson Krislov (1955-2013). In later life, she was married to Ralph David Sharpe (d. 2005).
She is survived by her sister, Edythe Cooke, grandchildren Rachel Krislov, Ivy Krislov, Daniel Lamp and Sharon Lamp. Her brother Hill Gettler and grandson Joshua Krislov are deceased.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Tuesday at Workman’s Circle Cemetery, West 50th and Theota Avenue in Parma, Ohio. Visitors will be welcomed by her son-in-law Alex Krislov and daughter-in-law Barbara Levinson at 22333 South Woodland Rd., Shaker Heights, Ohio. Shiva will continue on Wednesday from 9 A.M. to 9 P.M. Covid testing is encouraged but not required.
