Carole Lipton

LIPTON Carole J. Lipton (nee Jacobs), 81, of Lyndhurst, passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2016. Dearly beloved wife of the late William "Bill" Lipton. Loving mother of Amy (Sam) Foti and Betsy (Dr. Mitchell) Hollander. Devoted grandmother of Ali, Jenna and Jamie Foti; Nicole, Alexandra and Jack Hollander. Carole was born November 6, 1934 to Max and Sally Jacobs. She graduated from Cleveland Heights High School. She attended Smith College for two years and then received her Bachelor's Degree in English from Case Western Reserve University. After graduating from college, Carole taught English at Maple Heights High School and then went to work for the Walter H. Drane Co. doing editorial work. Years later, Carole wanted to further her education and went on to receive her Master's Degree in English from John Carroll University. Her career continued until the age of seventy, during those years teaching Freshman English and English Literature at John Carroll, Ursuline College and Cuyahoga Community College. Carole was a gifted writer and loved reading, traveling and the theater. She married Bill Lipton in 1959 and they lived happily in Beachwood for 45 years. She was involved in the Beachwood Community and was a board member of National Council of Jewish Women for many years. Services will be held Sunday October 23 at 2 PM at the ANSHE CHESED FAIRMOUNT TEMPLE 23737 Fairmount Blvd. Beachwood, OH. Entombment Mayfield Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the residence of Amy and Sam Foti, 3935 Waterford Court, Orange Village SUNDAY FOLLOWING SERVICES UNTIL 8 PM, MONDAY 2 PM.-4 PM. & 7 PM.-9 PM.
