

As the CEO of AFCO Sales— a company founded by his grandfather— Charles was a dedicated and hardworking manufacturer’s representative. He was known for his unwavering positivity and strong family values. Charles loved his blended family wholeheartedly and was a dedicated supporter of his grandchildren, attending their sports games and activities. An avid traveler, he enjoyed exploring new places with his wife, Lee.
In retirement, Charles continued to serve his community as a volunteer with NCJW/CLE and the Heights Emergency Food Center, where he also served as Treasurer.
He is survived by his wife, Lee; children, Stephen (Jaye) Apple, Kevin (Shelby) Apple, Amanda Banchek, Susan Banchek, and Beth (Ben) Mellors; and grandchildren, Kaila Apple (Alex Heilman), Kyle Apple, Rachel Apple, Benny Apple, Eli Slepian, and Ari and Jonah Mellors and brothers Larry (Aileen) Apple and Bill (Donna) Apple.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 12th at 11:00 a.m. at the Berkowitz Kumin Berkowitz Memorial Chapel, 1985 S. Taylor Road, Cleveland Heights. The family will sit shiva at the Apple residence, 19601 Van Aken Blvd., # 39, Shaker Heights, on Sunday from 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and on Monday and Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
