As David's cousin, I grew up not far from him in his home town of Skokie but unfortunatly lost contact with him at the age of 15 due to moves out of state and then my move overseas. I  happily regained contact with him via the internet about 5 or so years ago.
Not knowing the professional side of David's life, it now gives me great pleasure and pride to read all of the warm wishes, thoughts, gestures of affection, tributes and memories about David 'the hockey player, the mentor, the guide and the physician.
I knew him only as my cousin David. 
I can not add anything about the 'professional David'...only the cousin that I happily shared a lot of my spare time with either playing Little League, hockey on the local frozen over field or playing games with and getting together with for the Holidays when growing up.
How fortunate you all were to share a part of the life of the 'professional' David. It is obvious that your lives are so much more richer for it.

I am sad that I was not able to partake in sharing in more of Daivd's life, or in that part of David's professional life.. . but as his cousin, I too am am no less proud of his accomplishments!
I am very glad that I was finally able to see him again after such a long gap a couple of years ago and meet his wonderful and loving wife.  As  I have in the past, I will continue to 'raise a glass' to him on the 13th of May, his birthday which is a day after mine...same year.  
To you Anita...Ben and Elliot, Monya, Peggy and Allen, may G'd bless you all for all of the love and support that you gave David all his life, helping to make him the man, husband, father, and professional he was and may all these well wishes of the many people that knew him personally and professionally help to guide and support you through this very difficult time....

We are so sorry for your loss.  We both played hockey with David in the Shaker league for the past two years.  He was always looking for ways to make our team and players better, and he succeeded in doing so.  He very quickly became a good friend.    I cannot express the sadness I feel in hearing the loss of David. He was an exceptional man which words fail to describe. As my mentor, I will always be grateful to his patience, kindness, dedication, guidance and humor. I remember we had a meeting a few months ago that was scheduled for 2pm, I was running late in experiments and texted him is it ok to meet at 3? David responded "Sure. Rats over Rosenbaum. I'm not insulted :)" He always made time for me whether it was a Sunday afternoon to go over data or midnight to put the final touches on a presentation. He pushed me to be the best student I could be. I will forever be grateful for having the privilege of knowing and being mentored by such an extraordinary man. You are in my thoughts and my prayers.

My wife and I would like to add our condolences.  I was at Metro many years before David came and then worked under him at first as a part time cardiology attending in Cardiology clinic and then as part of a program to teach physical exam to the Cardiology Fellows.  You may know me from my involvement in helping to raise money for the Rakita Moss Professorship.  I was delighted that David became the First Recipient of this professorship!  He was the ideal recipient of this award.  

Not only did David possess and continue the great qualities of a physician and teacher which I have always associated with Metro, he really raised the bar in terms of his advancement of the Division of Cardiology during his tenure.  He was a kind and gentle leader and was able to impart a vision of the future and what was needed to make it happen which brought out the finest in all around him.  I know he motiviated and inspired me!  It was an honor and priviledge to work with and for him.  He will be sorely missed.  My wife and I hope and pray you find peace during this difficult time.

We are profoundly saddened by the loss of a truly remarkable teacher and mentor and a brilliant mind. Dr. Rosenbaum's positive attitude and humor was infectious. He taught us valuable life's lessons, with a special emphasis on professionalism and respect. His commitment to his trainees' careers was extraordinary. I am deeply shocked to hear of the sudden death of Dr. Rosenbaum and I would like to offer my deepest sympathy. I first met Dr. Rosenbaum when I visited Cleveland on August, 1998. He was a very kind person and a great scientist. Dr. Ohya and I also met you at the meeting of ISHR in Japanese section held in Yokohama on December, 5-6, 2008. We enjoyed a diner with you. The last time I contacted him was last September and he kindly wrote recommendation letter for me to apply a professor position. I really appreciate this. I am so incredibly sorry to hear about the passing of Dr. Rosenbaum. As I got to know him through fundraising work and then as my doctor, the one thing that always stuck with me is how much he loved his family.  I was always so touched by the way he spoke of his wife and one could just tell by the smile on his face and look in his eyes how much he loved her. It seems so unfair that the earth has lost such a brillant man who gave so much to those in need. He was just too good for this earth.  God bless you and your boys.  While I did not know Dr. Rosenbaum for long, he touched my heart and I am forever grateful that I had the honor of knowing him.  He is a true angel.

I was so sad when my parents called me about David.  I wanted you to kow I was thinking of all of you and how sorry I am.  I learned so much from David and will always remember him and be grateful to him. He taught me to work hard and never give up. David was one of my first baseball coaches.  We had some intense games.  Often David would call time out towards the end of the games, we would meet on the mound with David where he didn't discuss the game but wanted to quickly discuss where we were going to eat afterwards!!! It wasn't easy walking back into the game without laughing!!
I'm living in PA now and with David's permission, listed him as a reference on my resume. Since David and I often laughed and teased each other, I couldn't help to wonder what he really wanted to tell the HR person calling him! Please know I'm thinking of you and remembering all the wonderful times we had together.  Elliot and Ben thank-you for sharing your dad's time during all of our baseball years...He was the greatest!
