

David Shekhtmeyster, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and community member, passed away last week at the age of 94. He was an avid reader of books and magazines and enjoyed playing chess with friends and family. Known for his kindness and generosity, David was especially devoted to his family and was always ready to help anyone in need. He was also renowned in the community for his homemade sauerkraut and pickled vegetables, which he generously shared with all who asked.
Originally from Ukraine, David and worked tirelessly to advance his career, eventually becoming the Head of Facilities Management for a company serving several local grocery chains in Ukraine. He immigrated to the United States upon his retirement.
David is survived by his children, Igor Shekhtmeyster (Vera Gorokhovskaya) and Margarita Reyzina; grandchildren, Jane (Brandon) Lowe and Steve Reyzin; and nieces, Asya Sapozhnikova and Olga Shkuro. He was predeceased by his wife, Maya. He will be deeply missed by family and friends alike.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 14th at 10:00 a.m. at the Berkowitz Kumin Bookatz Memorial Chapel, located at 1985 S. Taylor Road, Cleveland Heights. Interment will follow immediately at Mt. Sinai Cemetery at the corner of White and SOM Center Roads in Mayfield Village.
