So very sorry for the loss of Doug. 
He was an amazing guy. We shared memories meeting at progressive and through the years would plan dinners.

I'm so saddened by Doug's passing. Please accept my condolences for the family. I've been tapping in to a lot of great memories this week. Gonna miss you, Hecker.

I am so sorry to learn of Doug’s passing. I grew up next to Doug and his brothers. We spent countless hours playing baseball in the street or at the local school. We also played driveway basketball and front yard football. We spent entire days playing miniature golf or lounging around a swimming pool. When it rained we played ping pong, not to 21, but to 1,001. I lost touch with Doug after high school, but I will forever cherish the memories of our childhood. Rest in peace dear friend.

Doug and I met in 1976 at Ohio State, and although I hadn’t seen him in decades, I have some wonderful memories of our time together. Doug was a huge OSU fan, and I’ll always remember football Saturdays at the Horseshoe (and the Big House), and watching the 1980 Miracle on Ice game at his apartment.

We loved giving each other a hard time — he was a die-hard Cleveland Browns fan, and I bled Steelers black and gold — but underneath all of that, we were fiercely protective of one another and of our group of friends.

When I moved to upstate New York after graduating from Ohio State, Doug, along with Mike Zimmerman, took the time to help me move — the kind of thing a real friend does, and something I’ve never forgotten.

My sincere condolences to Dick and Lori and to the entire Hecker family. Rest in peace, Doug. I’m grateful our paths crossed.

Doug has been our next-door neighbor for 20+ years and will be missed tremendously. He was always available to give a helping hand and loved his Ohio State football team!  If we were outside we could tell when  something big was happening by Doug’s booming voice! 
This photo  is when Doug and Lori joined us to cerebrate our granddaughter 13th birthday this summer.

We extend our sympathies for all of you at this tragic loss. We will miss Doug and are honored to  have known him and call him “brother” and great friend over the past 37 years.  He will always be remembered. O-H!

My introduction to Doug came on my freshman year at Ohio state in 1976 it began at the Library bar where he introduced me to drinking beer while consuming m and m’s and snickers. That started a firm friendship that included trips to the Gator Bowl in 78 followed by the Rose bowl trip in 79. That Gator bowl created life time friends and memories.Oh did it😂 Over the years we have lost touch which all of us need to be better at.as a founding member of the WRECKING CREW  Raise your glass

Much sadness in hearing of the passing of my former roommate at OSU (1977)
We put together the Intramural Championship soccer team, the Drackett Demons, and shared a most memorable road trip to Boston Garden to see John Havlicek’s last game with the Celtics.
Although we lost touch with each other after the OSU, there are many fond memories of those days.
Rest in peace, Doug.
