I saw him briefly as patient in 2008-2009.  I hopes he makes it through Purgatory to learn to trace radio waves that transmit others mental illnesses.  He knows physical therapy is a better defense at exorcising demons that invade the mind and body.  I wish him a better future when God recycles his body and spirit so he can recreate a better earth.

Thought about this man today and did a search to see if I could find information about his status.  I was, of course, saddened to see of his passing.  Simply put, Dr. Friedell saved my life. No other way to say it. I will forever remember him as a kind and stern, when he needed to be, Doctor.  One who treated with compassion and genuine concern.  May his spirit live on. Thanks Doc.  I benefited greatly from your life. 

Dr. Friedell was my doctor for 21 years. During that time I learned everything I will ever need to know.  He saved my life.  I try to live each day in a way that would make him proud. That way he never dies and lives on in my actions and thoughts.  I will always feel sad at his loss.

Dr. Friedell was an amazing person: tough, challenging, and creative friend for more than ten years. He touched my life and helped me and, through me, has affected many more lives than he ever knew. I am deeply saddened by his passing.

Last October I watched as a special corner of my world lost its light. Richard may not have believed in "souls", but I do, and I hope his has found a place of peace. He will be greatly missed.

I am so sorry for your loss. May the peace of God give you strength and comfort during this difficult time. Sincerest condolences to your family.

I knew Richard as a customer for many years before we discussed what he did for a living and how he could afford the  cars he was sporting! He was always less of a client and more of a conversationalist. He always had questions...and rarely offered any answers...which the mark of person with a searching soul.

What a devastating loss.  Dr. Friedell was the insightful, funny, stern, and caring friend that I needed.  I will be forever grateful for all he did for me, and I'm sure, for many others. I spent many Saturday mornings with him and had hoped to "check in" again next time I was in town.  

He adored his family and spoke of them often.  He was a truly, lovely man, and an exceptional healer.  

Although I'm sad, I am grateful to have know him.

We have wonderful memories of Richard coaching and filming Ben, the goalie extraordinaire, at the Shaker Ice Rink and a dozen other rinks around and about. 

 We also had lovely dinners with him and Kathy at Emily's house.  He will be so missed.

Richard will be missed by many. Members of the Cleveland Committee on Foreign Relations will be one such group. He was very knowledgeable about and steadily curious about the world at large and our relationship with it. He had a great sense of humor and generosity. We will miss him.

Richard had been a member of my gym for many years. Every time he would arrive at Kings Gym for his workout he would start off with a visit with me. We would normally tell jokes to each other (he would roll his eyes at my attempts) and then we would talk about  current events. I will miss those times with him. He was my friend and a great guy. Richard was one of the leading lights of his generation in the Department of Psychiatry, founding Comprehensive Psychiatric Services. he often challenged me with his insights about the future oof healthcare when I was working in the Planning Officee of UHC. 

The Andersons were our nrighbors when we lived on South Park.
